Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SoftPortal ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit this site. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

Last updated: April 2026.

1. Information We Collect

We collect a limited set of technical information needed to operate the site safely and to prevent abuse. This includes your IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, device and browser characteristics, and anonymised fingerprint data used to deter automated downloads. IP addresses are stored only as salted SHA-256 hashes in our audit logs.

If you submit a review, we also store the display name you provide and the text of the review.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to deliver the site, enforce rate limits, detect and block abusive traffic (bots, scrapers, proxies used for mass downloading), maintain download-count and rating aggregates, and improve the service over time. We do not sell personal data.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use a small number of cookies for session management, theme preference, CSRF protection, and verification of the download gate. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on third parties to operate the site: Cloudflare (edge delivery and DDoS protection), proxycheck.io (detection of proxies, VPNs, Tor, and datacenter IPs for abuse prevention), and Google AdSense (advertising). These providers may process your IP address and technical metadata under their own privacy policies.

Google AdSense may use cookies and device identifiers to personalise ads. You can review and adjust Google’s ad settings at https://adssettings.google.com/.

5. Data Retention

Rate-limit audit logs are kept for up to three months and then dropped automatically. Download events are retained for operational analytics. Reviews are kept as long as the associated listing exists, unless you ask us to remove them.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we hash IP addresses and do not maintain user accounts for visitors, most data we hold is not directly identifiable. To make a rights request regarding a review you submitted, contact us using the details below.

7. Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a revised “Last updated” date at the top.

9. Contact

Device compatibility and abuse prevention

SoftPortal runs local browser integrity and compatibility checks to identify the operating-system family, broad device class, capability tier, automation indicators, and inconsistencies between browser subsystems. We use these derived signals to show platform-relevant software, protect download workflows, enforce rate limits, and investigate abuse.

The site does not store raw canvas images, font lists, GPU renderer strings, voice lists, precise screen dimensions, extension signatures, or the complete browser-analysis result. A browser-generated hash is converted into a site-specific pseudonymous identifier before storage so it cannot be reused as a cross-site identifier.

Privacy protections such as Brave Shields, Firefox anti-fingerprinting, Tor Browser, blocked canvas access, or unavailable APIs are not treated as proof of abuse. Automated restrictions require stronger corroborating evidence, server-side reputation signals, rate-limit activity, or an identifier placed on an explicit deny list. Device session profiles are retained for no more than 30 days.

SoftPortal uses a first-party cookie preferences panel to manage optional analytics and advertising storage. By default, Google Consent Mode keeps ad storage, analytics storage, ad user data and ad personalization denied until a visitor grants the relevant choice.

If analytics is allowed, we may use Google Analytics and Ahrefs analytics to measure traffic and improve content. If advertising is allowed, Google AdSense and Google partners may use cookies or similar technologies for ad delivery, measurement and personalization where permitted.

Required cookies for sessions, CSRF protection, theme preference, device-context checks and download security remain active because disabling them would break core site functionality. You can reopen Cookie Settings from the footer at any time to change optional choices.
