Required cookies and storage

Required cookies keep the site secure, preserve basic preferences, protect forms and support the download flow. These are not used for advertising personalization and cannot be disabled from our cookie banner without breaking core features.

  • PORTALSESSID and CSRF/session data: required for secure sessions, form protection and abuse prevention. The session cookie is HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict.
  • theme: stores your light or dark theme preference so the page does not flash the wrong theme on the next visit.
  • prereq_token and prereq_ctx: bind device compatibility and download-security checks to the same browser context. They are Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict cookies and expire after about 24 hours.
  • softportal.device-context.v1: sessionStorage used to keep broad device-context checks consistent during a visit.
  • softportal.cookieConsent.v1: localStorage record of your optional analytics and advertising choices.

Analytics choices

Analytics is optional. If you allow analytics, we may use Google Analytics and Ahrefs analytics to understand which pages visitors use, which content needs improvement and whether navigation works correctly. If you reject optional cookies, analytics storage remains denied and Ahrefs analytics is not loaded by our site.

Advertising choices

SoftPortal uses Google AdSense to help fund the site. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads, measure ad performance, limit repeat ads and, where allowed by your choice and local law, personalize ads based on visits to this and other sites.

If you reject optional advertising cookies, our Google Consent Mode default keeps ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization denied. You may still see ads, but they should not rely on our site granting personalized advertising storage.

You can manage Google ad personalization at Google Ads Settings. You can also review industry opt-out tools such as YourAdChoices and NAI Consumer Opt Out.

Changing your choices

Your browser settings may also let you block or delete cookies and site storage. Blocking required cookies can break sessions, CSRF protection, theme preference, download readiness checks and other security features.
